Previously, 2k developers released some new features of NBA 2K22. But what are the biggest improvements over NBA 2K21? Here’s everything that’s been revealed thus far.
MyTeam
The most notable addition coming is familiar to MyTEAM players. That mode has had Seasons for a bit now, but 2K is expanding on it even more.
Seasons are once again available in NBA 2K22. They have been expanded to the entire length of the game & will be available in other modes outside of MyTeam. There will be new content, rewards & new ways to play the game. Updates will be available for free.
MyTEAM also sees the return of a Draft mode. Players will be able to select their complete lineup from a rotating pool of players, and then they can take that team and use it to compete in multiplayer matches. On top of that, 2K has plans to introduce a new game mode during the holiday season.
The City and The Neighborhood
An all-new version of The City will be coming to NBA 2K22, at least on current-gen consoles. Along with it comes an overhaul of MyCAREER, which will be integrated alongside The City into one narrative experience. More quests and NPCs, side careers such as hip-hop, and quicker online matchmaking are all among the elements being introduced to NBA 2K22’s City. Players on other consoles will be returning to The Neighborhood in an updated manner, as well. Meanwhile, The Neighborhood is taking a cruise ship to the high seas and sailing around the world. These additions should help both current and last-gen players feel like there is plenty to do when hopping into the MyPLAYER side of the game, despite differences between the two.
MyCAREER
2K is also giving some attention to MyCAREER players. In the revamped mode, players will go beyond the hardwood and explore their player’s full careers. That means opportunities to become a rap mogul or a fashion icon. While not related to the on-court gameplay, it will give players more control over their career and replicates parts of the real-world NBA experience.
Gameplay
2K is promising gameplay changes to NBA 2K22. It hasn’t given a full picture of these changes and additions yet but confirms that these will include new signature moves and combos, a revamped shot contest and blocking system, and cross-gen progress and collection.
On-The-Court
Offensive and defensive changes are both being introduced to on-the-court gameplay in NBA 2K22, allowing players to take more direct control over not only how their team scores points but also how they counter moves. The shot contest and blocking system on the defensive side has been entirely reworked. New signatures moves and combos are likewise being introduced to offensive players, and many of these elements have been altered to be more skill-based than in previous games.
