In summary, Update #5 improves some of the player likenesses and facial animations, while it also includes several fixes for Dark Matter cards in the MyTeam mode. Additionally, players on next-gen systems can look forward to “various general updates” that should improve performance overall.

The player models for more than 30 athletes have been updated to better reflect their real-world appearances as it relates to their likenesses, tattoos, and facial animations. Additionally, the new social space The City has received a spring-themed update to reflect the season that officially begins this weekend.

In terms of bug fixes, this new NBA 2K21 update fixes an issue that could cause names of certain playbooks to vanish mysteriously, while multiple Dark Matter card issues have been fixed. The patch notes also mention stability and performance updates to improve the overall experience.

Due to the new shot meter providing a tougher challenge, learning your player’s optimal shooting zones are vital in hitting successful shots. Your players will now receive a bigger boost if they attack from one of their favorite positions. Practice with your favorite players and get to know their hot zones to increase the hit rate – already works in practice mode.

4. Badges are life

Learning and knowing your player’s Badges is essential to their success on the court. Find out which badges fit your star’s playing style and level them in MyPlayer. For every throw as well as every tactical move in MyCareer and The Neighborhood you collect points for leveling. In the end, this will make a decisive difference.

5. Shoot clean

In NBA 2K21 it is difficult to hit or fit from a covered position. Sniff out open space and do the best you can to get away from defenders and you’ll have more success with your shots. Using L1/LB, your colleagues shield you from your opponents, so that you can throw your throw.

6. Defend bravely

NBA 2K21 has released a new grouping of Moments Cards for MyTEAM to pair with this weekend’s NBA All-Star Game, and five players who performed this weekend are on display. New moments including:

• PD Team LeBron Damian Lillard OVR 96 PG/SG, Portland Trail Blazers.

Here’s my formula for winning most TTO games:

1). Run a lineup of players you’re good with. You also want one player you dominate with, either as a shooter or finisher. The other two players should be able to shoot in most cases.

2). Use your dominant player to try to score. Call a Quick Isolation from the menu, do your thing with your favorite player, and if that fails, you can kick it to a teammate for a 3 or easy drive.

3). Play both on-ball and off-ball defense. Sometimes on-ball is better, sometimes off-ball is. Figure out the perfect mix and shut down the other team.

The Jumpshot creator portion of NBA 2K21’s MyCareer is one of the most important parts of taking your player creation to the next level, and it is almost immediately available, and players can quickly edit their Jumpshot to perfection. Here’s how do you get the Jumpshot creator at light speed.

1). Start a new MyCareer and skip or play the tutorial games. If this is your second created MyCareer file, it will ask you to jump directly into the NBA, and we recommend doing so.

2). After you are drafted, it will take you back into the mode’s main menu. Head over to the MyPlayer Appearance tab and Jumpshot Creator can be found below, players can customize their Jumpshot there.

3). In each of the Release categories within this, you can discover fellow NBA players’ shots by scrolling past all of the default animations.

4). Users also have the option to change their release speed in the Blending option on the right-hand side of the Jumpshot Creator menu and are perfect for players who want to fully customize their shot.

5). After you have created the perfect Jumpshot, you can apply it to your player in the MyAnimations menu in the MyPlayer Appearance tab.

Using the default Jumpshot animations does not cost VC, but players can acquire premium options of signature shots from other players. These animations are not required to create an effective Jumpshot, but they are a fun way to customize your character.

Notably, last year the jump shot release timing was changed so that using the Quick Draw badge was the only way to make your jump shot quicker, but that change has been reverted. You’re now able to change the release timing again this year.

Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of the process:

• Start a new MyCareer and complete the tutorial either by playing through the games or skipping them.

• You’ll then be able to immediately access the Jump Shot Creator.

• You can then access this again at any time by heading to the MyPlayer Appearance menu.

2). Scroll over and select the “MyPLAYER” option.

3). Once in the MyPLAYER Customize screen use the navigation bar at the top of the screen to highlight and select “ANIMATION STORE”.

4). In the ANIMATION STORE screen select the “PARK FLASHY PASSES” option.

5). From this screen, you can choose any flashy pass animation that you would like to purchase.

6). After you have purchased your flashy pass, back out to the MyPLAYER Customize screen.

7). In the navigation bar select the “MY ANIMATIONS” option.

8). In the MY ANIMATIONS screen scroll over the FLASHY PASSES section and equip your purchased flashy pass animation.

1). Access The MyPLAYER Animations Menu

To access your animations you need to first access the MyPLAYER Appearance tab from the options screen. From here select the My Animations menu from the navigation screen. Select this option to be taken to a new screen with a slew of animation options you can change.

2). Set Your Flashy Passes on the My Animations Screen

The Animation screen features many different options you can select to change on your MyPLAYER. The option we want to change is called the flashy pass and it can be found to the right (8). Once on the flashy passcard, you can change the passes you have equipped. There are some crazy passes to choose from including kicking the ball. Select whichever passes you want to run with and you will be able to use them in-game.

How to do a Flashy Pass?

1). For PS4 & PS5: Double-tap Circle to pass and pick a receiver with the left analog stick.

2). For Xbox One & Xbox Series X: Double-tap B to pass and pick a receiver with the left analog stick.

Tips and Tricks

Flashy Passes may look cool, but if your MyPlayer has an abysmal passing rating do not attempt these as it will result in a quick turnover.
