A long-standing member of the starting Magic roster, Nikola Vucevic has definitely shouldered his side of the team.

The Swiss center began his NBA career with the 76ers in 2011 before being traded to the Magic just a year later and he hasn’t looked back since. He made his first All-Star appearance in 2019.

Averaging 16.5 points per game as a center, he has shown his strengths in that regard, as well as making sure he can hold a respectable 9.2 average rebounds. Not only can he be a scorer and a defender, but he is also a playmaker, as he has an average of 3.4 assists per game as well.

His rebounding (94 OVR) is his highest-rated key attribute on his card and with high ratings in both offense (90 OVR) and defense (95 OVR), Vucevic will protect that rim as his life depends on it.

Penny Hardaway is often considered one of the best players that most casual NBA fans don’t remember or know about. The Memphis native spent the first six years of his NBA career in Orlando and made all four of his All-Star appearances during that time (1995-1998). If the team would have kept Shaquille O’Neal and Penny Hardaway together the very history of the NBA could be different and Hardaway, alongside O’Neal, might have ended up as a Top 15 to 10 great.

This card is incredibly well rounded. With five of his six key attributes rated 80 or higher. The only exception is his 76 rated rebounding, which, as a point guard, is still very respectable.

Yet another 92-rated card, Hill spent seven years with the Magic between 2000 and 2007, making three All-Star appearances during his time in Orlando.

Grant Hill had just about as good of a career in both the NCAA and NBA as one could dream of. Over the course of his 18-year career, Hill was a 7-time All-Star and was the winner of the 1995 Rookie of the Year. Although he never won an NBA Championship, Hill’s individual success should garner him a large amount of Hall of Fame consideration. Hill was also a two-time National Champion at Duke and had his number retired by the College basketball powerhouse.

He only has 80 standing dunks to go with his 98 driving dunks, but he makes up for it with 97 vertical, 95 help defense IQ, 95 pick & roll defense, 98 hands, 98 driving layups, 98 shot close, 97 shot mid and 92 shot 3pt. Lillard has been in Portland since being selected as the 6th overall pick in the 2012 draft. A four-time NBA All-Star, Damian Lillard is, arguably, the most important player on the Portland Trail Blazers roster. Last season he averaged 25.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game and will continue to impress during his prime years. A player who may be a rarity in this day and age as he’s been with the Trail Blazers since he first appeared, from his debut back in 2012 he’s gone from strength to strength.

We take you on a trip back in time now as the shooting guard position is filled by Geoff Petrie.

Geoff Petrie had a very successful career with the Portland Trail Blazers. Having the ability to play either guard or forward due to his size, Petrie matched up well against most defenders in the NBA. During his rookie season, not only did Petrie average 24.8 points, five rebounds and three assists per game, but he was also the league’s Rookie of the Year and an All-Star. In his short career, Petrie was known for his ability to shoot well from down-town (89 rated three-point shot).

Sure, Petrie averaged 24.9 points per game and was an All-Star in his fourth season; however, he just didn’t provide the same impact that he did as a rookie. Either way, Petrie is still regarded as one of the best Trail Blazers of all time, as his number 45 is retired by the franchise.

His 84 OVR playmaking will compliment Lillard’s playstyle perfectly.

Another little throwback for you Trails Blazer fans here with the inclusion of Brandon Roy, playing slightly out of position as a small forward.

Roy played in the NBA for just seven years, spending six of those with the Trail Blazers. One of the NBA’s greatest what-ifs, Roy was an All-Star for three years in Portland.

Brandon Roy is one of the few players that didn’t have the most illustrious careers, but still had an impact during his years that he was active. Known as Daggers or B-Roy, he was also able to bring about a solid 4.3 rebounds per game and 4.7 assists per game over the 5 seasons he played, establishing himself as not exactly the most spotlight heavy player, but still team orientated.

Whilst the team so far isn’t bad, it really is Portland’s big men who hold the key to success in this team. This starts with the late power forward Maurice Lucas.

After the ABA-NBA merger, Lucas was chosen second overall by the Blazers in the ABA Dispersal Draft. During the 1976-77 season, Lucas led the Blazers in scoring, offensive rebounds, field goals, free throws, and minutes played. He, along with Bill Walton, would also help the Blazers to their first postseason appearance ever.

During his career with the Blazers, he would be elected to three All-Star games. Lucas would also go on to be selected for the All-Defensive First Team (1977-78), the All-Defensive Second Team (1978-79), and the All-NBA Second Team (1977-78). Predominantly known as an “enforcer” in the paint, Lucas was a great rebounder and a few players were scared to put their bodies in the paint.

Lucas is an impenetrable force in the paint, particularly on the board, with a 96 rating on the offensive board and a 97 rating on the defensive.

His 92 OVR in defending makes him one of the game’s best defensive power forwards.

The final name in the team is another pink diamond card, and yet another member of the ’77 Championship winning side, Bill Walton.

Walton was a top player who finished his career a two-time NBA Champion and also a former NBA MVP. Walton was a beast in 1977-1978 season, averaging 19 points and 13 rebounds and affecting the game in almost every way. He could pass, defend, score, and lead his team to victory.

Although the 1976-77 Portland Trail Blazers had a strong roster from top to bottom, it was still Walton who led the team to a title. Leading the league in blocks and rebounds per game, the red-headed center thrived on both ends of the court, asserting himself as one of the best single-season players of all time.

Steve Kerr was a member of an all-time great Chicago Bulls team. He also was a dependable guard who could light it up on the floor when his jump shot started falling.

Steve Kerr won five titles as a player, three titles with the Chicago Bulls (1996-1998) and two titles with the San Antonio Spurs (1999, 2003). Kerr won a Three-Point Shooting contest in 1997, his first victory at the event. Kerr also managed to end his playing career with the highest 3-pt FG percentage from the field, although this was later broken by Kyle Korver.

The next name in the list, and also coming in at a 94 OVR three-point shot rating, is the former Chicago Bulls three-point machine, Craig Hodges. Hodges actually played a limited role on this team, only logging 22.7 minutes per game. While only starting 6 games this season, Hodges averaged 10 points, 2.8 assists and 1.4 3-pointers made per game.

Craig Hodges had built a career on the three-point shot. He’s value was not measured in hitting the clutch three-point shot because he would rarely play during crunch time. However, no one kept a good first quarter run going better than Hodges in the early 1990s.

Hodges was an absolute animal from beyond the arc back in the 1990s, winning the three-point shooting contest three times in a row between 1990-1992, and whilst his card may be quite average as an 81 OVR, he will drain that three-ball with ease. The third name in this top five list is the Prince of Midair, World B. Free.

Free was a bit of a journeyman during his ten-year stint in the NBA, playing for no fewer than seven teams, however, he is best known for his time with the Clippers, then based in San Diego. Free only spent two years in San Diego but earned an All-NBA Second Team appearance in his first and then an All-Star appearance in his second.

In the 1979-80 season, he averaged an impressive 30.2 PPG for the Clippers, shooting at 36% from three-point range. It’s all about scoring with Free. His 92 outside scoring attribute is broken down into 92 close, 92 mid and 93 three-point shot, you will be able to nail down points from wherever on the court you please. He loves to showboat too, 95 rated in both flashy and alley-oop passing.

Continuing with the theme of past greats rather, we have the ’97 spotlight version of former Houston Rocket Kenny Smith.

‘The Jet’ spent six years in Houston with the Rockets, and whilst he may not have been known for his point-scoring, Kenny was a consistent threat from deep. His most memorable performance was when he dropped seven three-pointers in Game One of Houston’s 1995 NBA Finals sweep of the Magic. Smith’s career highs would come with Houston, as he would average 18 points and seven assists per in his first season with the Rockets after spending time with Sacramento and Atlanta the previous year.

He assisted the team in two consecutive titles during a stretch where every team was attempting to contend for a title with the loss of Michael Jordan. Paired up with the likes of Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler for one of those seasons, Smith would average four assists per in both championship seasons and convert on 48 percent of his shots to assist the Rockets in their consecutive title victories.

The last name to make the list is the former LA Laker Nick ‘The Quick’ Nick Van Exel.

He did manage to average as many as nine assists per game with L.A. while never posting up anything less than six assists per. As well as being a solid passer that never averaged three turnovers per, Van Exel was also deadly from beyond the arc, as he would average better than two three-pointers per in two of his first four seasons in the league. The only problem was that Van Exel wasn’t too consistent of a shooter, and he shot 41 percent for his career.

As highlighted in the fastest point guards piece, Nick the Quick is trademarked for his lightning speed, both with and without the ball, and is a cheaper alternative to Jo Jo White for those who play fast-paced ball.

Arguably the greatest player to ever play for the Utah Jazz, Malone spent 18 years in Utah, making the All-Star team fourteen times during that stretch. Over the course of his career, he averaged a double-double with 25 PPG and 10.1 RPG.

A dominant guy on both ends of the floor, the power forward was a scoring machine while playing lockdown defense and owning the boards on a nightly basis. Malone is a beast in the paint, with his inside scoring (89 OVR) made up of 91 post moves, 85 standing dunk, and 85 driving dunks. It was in his time with Atlanta where he made his first and only NBA All-Star appearance in 1997. Christian’s hustle is his top-rated stat (95 OVR) and rightly so, he grafted from the first whistle to the last, picking up a whopping 5,806 rebounds in his NBA career (88 OVR).
