NBA 2K20: How To Shoot Better?

Whether you’re new to NBA 2K or a grizzled vet, you’re gonna need to learn how to shoot better in NBA 2K20. Here are eleven tips to help bring your field goal percentage way up.

How to inprove your shooting

1. Spec your character for shooting

Before you jump into MyCareer’s matches, you’ll be treated to the usual customization options that allow you to create your very own NBA player. This is incredibly important. Having a character that excels at mid-range shots, three-point shots, free throws, and post-fades will not only increase your chances of winning, it will also give your team the opportunities they need to gain an edge against trickier opponents.

Be sure to also pump attribute points into your character’s dunking skills as this will give you some potent finishers that you can use when opting for a more aggressive approach.

Lastly, your height should sit around the 6’5″ mark to ensure you maintain a decent speed, strength, acceleration, and vertical stats without compromising your ability to break through the game’s taller defenders.

2. Practice your shooting skills in training mode

Practice mode is a great Mode to work on new shots, work out the kinks in your shot, finding the sweet spot of when to release the ball, etc. This useful feature allows you to practice all the different shooting types and nail the perfect shot, making it a great place to try out different shots before diving into competitive games.

3. Complete the Shooting Section of Training Camp

Take full advantage of the in-game training camp that NBA 2K provides. This will get you fully familiar with every shot type in the game so that you have a number of shot varieties to attack the defense in different situations.

4. Know Your Hot Spots

Hot Spots

While in practice mode, press Select to pull up the Hot Spots graphic which will show you the zones on the court that you shoot the best at. Hot spot zones will also increase as you increase your shooting attributes.

5. Get used to the shooting stick

The shooting stick might seem intimidating at first, but learning to time your release with the shooting stick will produce much more accurate shots over time.

6. Pick the Right Jumpshot (and Practice It)

You’re going to want to pick a Jumpshot that is quick, smooth, and high performing. In short, we like Jumpshot 98 for guards and Jumpshot 38 for wings and bigs. Once you’ve picked a jumper, you’re going to need to practice it. The more you practice, the better you’ll get.

7. Pick the Right Badges

Badges are a huge part of this game in every game mode, therefore you need to pick the right ones for your player to shoot better. You’re going to need Quick Draw, preferably on Hall of Fame. Range Extender is the next necessary badge, followed by Deadeye, which is important for most shooting builds. These will be your foundation.

8. Always find the open man

Spacing your offense properly against a tough defender can be quite challenging. Often, driving to the hoop can distract the defense enough for you to find an open man beyond the arc to kick the ball out to.

9. Take advantage of the pick and roll

pick and roll

By hitting the left bumper (or L1 on PS4), one of your larger players will come set a pick next to the person defending you, creating a screen that will allow you to either get an open look, or dish it to an open center down in the post.

10. Don’t force shots

While it can be incredibly tempting to shoot for those impressive half-court shots, it’s almost always better to wait until you’re open. A lot of players will often force shots when they’re behind, but this can often make things worse, especially when you’re playing against the best NBA 2K20 players. Instead, try to look for opportunities where your players can utilize their individual skills to outplay your opponent.

11. Minimize Gameplay Lag

It’s well-known that 2K’s servers are pretty rough at times, but there are a few ways you can minimize lag when playing. This will help you have some consistency when timing your Jumpshot.

First, play on a wired connection. This will not only provide a stronger signal but also decrease any chances that your Wifi may randomly disconnect for odd reasons.

Second, play on a monitor. While a bigger TV may be fun to play on, a monitor will have less input lag, meaning how you press the controller will show up on the screen earlier, which is key for shooting better.

All of these tips have come from playing thousands of games on NBA 2K20 and thousands more on past 2K games. I hope useful to you. Best Cards in NBA 2K20 MyTeam

In NBA 2k20 MyTEAM mode, there will be a large number of players to choose from, both classical and modern. But which player cards are the best? Let’s take a look at the best player cards in NBA 2K20’s MyTeam and rank them.

Dwyane Wade

Dwyane Wade

Former Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade—a 13-time All-Star, three-time NBA champion and 2008 Olympic gold medalist who retired in April following a stellar 16-year career—is the face of the Legend Edition. So he has a lot of perks that come with that. For Dwyane Wade, this meant that one of those perks is receiving a 99 overall card that’s a reward for reaching the maximum collector reward tier inside of MyTeam.

The card has excellent outside scoring and playmaking with every attribute but one being a 99 in both of those categories. Wade is considered one of the best shot-blocking shooting guards of all-time and this cards 99 block stat proves it.

Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis

Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis—a six-time All-Star, three-time All-NBA first team member, three-time NBA All-Defensive Team, and 2012 Olympic gold medalist—will be featured on the Standard and Deluxe Editions. He has the 2nd best card so far in MyTeam.

His 99 overall card that is rewarded to players who collect a ton of cards inside the mode is ridiculous. He’s a rebounding machine with 99s across the board which goes handy with an inside scoring attribute lineup with nothing but 99s as well.

Julius Erving

Julius Erving

Julius Erving was a star in the 70s and 80s. Nicknamed “Dr. J”, Erving was a perennial all-star and won an NBA title in 1983. For his career, he averaged 24.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game. About a third of his career was played in the ABA, where he averaged even better numbers.

Julius Erving happens to have the highest overall card in MyTeam for a guy. He’s available only in the Galaxy Opal section. Unlike the top 2 cards on this list, Erving has some flaws as his rebounding and interior defense traits are in the 70s. He’s an athletic freak though that sports tremendous speed and dunking ability.

Grant Hill

Grant Hill

Although Grant Hill ended up on the CLippers before retiring, he originally started out with the Pistons, which was seen as his miracle years. During his six seasons with the Pistons, Hill was able to amass 21.6 points on average, as well as a solid 4.1 assists, making him a feared pointman. His most notable asset, though, was his ability to steal the ball, which netted him a solid 1.6 steals per game.

He gets his own 99 overall cards. The card is solid in both its outside scoring and perimeter defensive attributes, but don’t expect to be rebounding or using post moves with Grant Hill anytime soon.

Dominique Wilkins

Dominique Wilkins

The nine-time NBA All-Star Dominique Wilkins is best remembered for his time with the Atlanta Hawks, where he has since had his number 21 jersey retired by the side. His dunking was on a whole other level and he won the iconic NBA slam dunk contest in 1985 and 1990. The dunk champion’s ticket trading reward card sports a ridiculous but accurate vertical rating of 98 which goes great with his other 97+ dunk ratings.

If you’re looking for a dunking highlight who has some outside shooting ability then maybe aim your eyes on this 85′ Wilkins card.

Penny Hardaway

Penny Hardaway

The Memphis native Penny Hardaway spent the first six years of his NBA career in Orlando and made all four of his All-Star appearances during that time (1995-1998).

If the team would have kept Shaquille O’Neal and Penny Hardaway together the very history of the NBA could be different and Hardaway, alongside O’Neal, might have ended up as a Top 15 to 10 great. His 99 overall card featuring him from the 1994 season emphasizes the playmaking ability that had him distributing and providing his teammates with plenty of chances to score.

Despite only playing for the Magic for two more years than Shaq did, Penny Hardaway is often considered the gold standard for the franchise alongside Dwight Howard. He was a 4x NBA All-Star who measured in at a staggering 6’7″, which is unheard for point guards.

Arvydas Sabonis

Arvydas Sabonis

Arvydas Sabonis was an intimidating interior presence. He was one of the most dominant centers in Europe before becoming an all-time Portland Trail Blazers great, spending some time playing for Zalgiris Kaunas, Forum Valladolid, and Real Madrid before being drafted 24th overall in 1986 by the Blazers.

Through his NBA career, the Lithuanian center did just enough to become a Hall of Famer, leaving career averages of 12 points, 7.3 rebounds 2.1 assists, and 1.1 blocks per contest, as well as becoming one of the first centers to be a consistent three-point shooter.

In many ways, the 7’3″ athletic monster was part of the movement for power forwards and centers to develop an outside shooting game. Sabonis isn’t the lightest on his feet so his 28 ratings on perimeter defense and 54 ratings for lateral quickness should be understood.

Scottie Pippen

Scottie Pippen

Like MJ, Scottie Pippen was another integral member of that dominant Bulls side from the ’90s and it is he who occupies the SF role in this side.

Pippen may have not got the individual accolades that MJ received, but his incredible work on both ends of the court, particularly defensively, was key to those six titles in the 1990s.

He was a smart player who knew what shots to take and had the right level of ego and competitive spirit to play alongside a player like Michael Jordan.

Dirk Nowitzki

Dirk Nowitzki

German big man Dirk Nowitzki had a fantastic career with the Dallas Mavericks. In 20 years, he was a 14x All-Star, 12x All-NBA player, 2007 MVP, and an NBA Champion. He was a staple for Dallas basketball and helped lead the franchise to decades of prosperity.

For years he showed the league that he was one-of-a-kind. His 97 overall card from the 2010 season reflects his tremendous scoring ability from both inside and out of the paint as well as his rebounding prowess. It also happens to be a little harsh on his speed, acceleration, and passing ability.

• Galaxy Opal Walt Frazier
• Galaxy Opal Rudy Gobert
• Galaxy Opal Corey Maggette
• Pink Diamond Al Harrington
• Diamond Greg Monroe

• Walt Frazier

Walt Frazier

Leading the way is the Hall of Famer Walt Frazier, now a commentator with his former team, the New York Knicks.

He played 10 seasons for the Knicks before he finished off his career in Cleveland for three seasons. During that time, Frazier was apart of two championships with the Knicks, was a seven-time All-Star, and made the All-NBA First Team a total of four times.

A stellar point guard with a knack for scoring as well as passing, he was arguably the main reason why the New York Knicks were able to win the NBA Championships in 1970 and 1973.

Frazier would finish in the top 10 in MVP voting three times and would average better than 20 points, six rebounds, and six assists per for six consecutive seasons with his top statistical season coming in 1971, when he averaged 22 points, seven rebounds and seven assists per. This was more impressive due to his height and position, making him scary inside and outside the paint.

The new Frazier card brings a 99 OVR including 97 Playmaking, 96 Athleticism, 93 Defending, 93 Outside Scoring, and 86 Inside Scoring. Frazier gets just a 72 on his rebounding, which is to be expected for most guards. As far as badges, he’s got 15 of the Gold and 47 for Hall of Fame including Giant Slayer, Tireless Shooter, Handles for Days, Pogo Stick, and Clamps.

• Rudy Gobert

Rudy Gobert

Also, Joining in the Galaxy Opal crew for NBA 2K20 Throwback Moments is Rudy Gobert, who can play either power forward or center on MyTeam rosters.

Back-to-back defensive player of the year, Frenchman Rudy Gobert is at the top of the list for the best interior defender in NBA 2K20.

Whilst he may be the best defender currently in the NBA, Gobert has also stated that he has ‘only scratched the surface on what he can be offensive’ a worrying statement for the rest of the NBA, that’s for sure.

The new Gobert item includes Gobert has 98 Rebounding and 96 Defending, as well as 93 Inside Scoring and 91 Athleticism. The card features 16 Gold and 43 HOF Badges.

Five Fastest Point Guards in NBA 2K20

Point guards are the most important position on your team. They are the key to your offensive success. Of course, if you have a fast point guard, it makes it harder for your opponents to build their defense and make it easier for your team to score. Now let’s take a look at the five fastest point guards in NBA 2k20 and rank them to help you play better in the game.

John Wall (OVR 94)

• Card Type: Prime VIP
• Position: PG / SG
• Club: Washington Wizards
• Speed Rating: 97
• MyTEAM Cost: 75,000

John Wall

The fastest point guard who is available to purchase on NBA 2k20’s MyTEAM is the Washington Wizards’ John Wall.

Wall spent his full career to date with the Wizards and made five consecutive All-Star appearances between 2014 and 2018.

John Wall came on the scene like a blur and showed he belonged among the best current players. In the years since his play has degraded, injuries are mounting, and his contract no longer matches his output. However, those who watched Wall prior to those injuries will know the blistering pace which he possesses, making him one of the hardest PG’s to mark in the NBA today.

He is all about speed, with all three of his top stats focusing on his speed, both with and without the ball. You can grab his 94 rated Prime VIP card for 75k mt 2k20 on MyTEAM.

01 Muggsy Bogues (OVR 89)

• Card Type: Legacy
• Position: PG / SG
• Club: ’92/’93 Charlotte Hornets
• Speed Rating: 97
• MyTEAM Cost: 3,000

Muggsy Bogues

The next fastest point guard which you can grab on 2K today is the ’01 version of the Charlotte Hornets’ Muggsy Bogues.

Muggsy Bogues is the shortest player in NBA history, listed at 5’3″, but that didn’t stop him from thriving.

Using his size to his advantage, Muggsy was considered a great passer and stealer. Muggsy only averaged 7.7 PPG but notched an amazing 7.6 APG. He even recorded 39 blocks in his career, one of them against Patrick Ewing of the New York Knicks.

Bogues was so incredibly athletic, strong and with such high jump, he could even dunk the ball from time to time. Thanks to his 43″ vertical, Bogues was able to succeed in a league of giants, even playing next to 7’7″ center Manute Bol.

Bogues joined the Hornets from the Washington Bullets ahead of their inaugural season in 1988. Whilst the Charlotte franchise has had many great point guards since then, none have been as quick with the ball in hand as Muggsy, who has a whopping 97-speed rating, both with, and without, ball in hand.

Muggsy can be picked up for just 3k in MyTEAM.

’03 John Stockton (OVR 96)

• Card Type: Prime Series
• Position: PG / SG
• Club: ’97-’98 Utah Jazz
• Speed Rating: 95
• MyTEAM Cost: 265,000

John Stockton

The next name in the list is the prime series version of the NBA all-time great John Stockton.

As a 10x All-Star, the all-time leader in career assist and career steals, Stockton is regarded as one of the greatest point guards of all time.

Most people would consider John Stockton as 1/2 of the best pick & roll duo of all-time, and arguably the best passing point guard to ever walk the court. The Utah Jazz legend had such a filthy shot from range that it made the pairing of him and Karl Malone almost unstoppable. He enjoyed many good seasons with Karl Malone and holds career averages of 13.1 points, 10.5 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. If it wasn’t for the likes of Michael Jordan, the duo would likely be champions.

John Stockton is known for being arguably the greatest playmaker of all time. He led the league in assists 9 times and is the league’s all-time leader in dimes with 15.806 (10.5 assists per game). However, some people forget that Stockton was also a relentless defender. He led the league in steals twice (2.2 steals per game per his career) and made it to 5 All-Defensive teams throughout his career.

However, as you would expect from a 96 rated overall, Stock doesn’t come cheap. 265k is the cheapest on the market at the time of writing.

’81 Jo Jo White (OVR 95)

• Card Type: Legacy
• Position: PG / SG
• Club: Boston Celtics
• Speed Rating: 95
• MyTEAM Cost: 42,000

Jo Jo White

The theme of quick NBA greats continues with the inclusion of the late Boston Celtic Jo Jo White.

The iconic number 10 jersey which was sported by Jo Jo White during his 10-year stint with the Celtics from 1969-1979 was retired following his retirement in 1982. White won two NBA championships in Boston, in 1974 and 1976, winning the finals MVP in the latter, a series which included a triple-overtime win against the Phoenix Suns often referred to as the greatest game ever played.

White has two stat areas over 90, with 94 playmaking and 93 athleticism – including 95 speed and acceleration – which make him the ideal point guard for those who like to play at pace.

’06 Nick Van Exel (OVR 92)

• Card Type: Prime VIP
• Position: PG / SG
• Club: ’97-’98 Los Angeles Lakers
• Speed Rating: 95
• MyTEAM Cost: 14,500

Nick Van Exel

The final name to make the top five list is the La Lakers showman Nick ‘Van Excellent’ Exel, its the lightening quick shooting guard.

The Memphis Grizzlies assistant coach played for a whole range of teams during his NBA career, but made the greatest impact during his time in LA with the Lakers, making his one and only All-Star appearance during his time there in 1998.

Due to his trademark speed, Van Exel earned the nickname Nick The Quick. Somewhat surprisingly, Nicks speed with the ball in hand (96) is actually higher than his 95-speed rating.

NBA 2K20 MyTeam: Spotlight Sim Cards Bring Darko Milicic, Brook Lopez, and More

Spotlight Sim

NBA 2K20 MyTeam has been following its usual beats, continuously roll out new player cards. Recently, the new Spotlight Sim cards have been launched. Those went to big men Brook Lopez and Darko Milicic, among others with one player getting a new Galaxy Opal.

Milicic, Lopez earn new NBA 2K20 Spotlight Sim Cards

The new Spotlight Sim players are galaxy opal Sarunas Marciulionis, pink diamond Wally Szczerbiak, pink diamond Brook Lopez, diamond Tim Legler, and amethyst Darko Milicic.

• Darko Milicic

Darko Milicic

Darko Milicic played on the Pistons roster during his first year in the NBA. That’s the case for the man who many forgot from the 2003 NBA Draft as he was the infamous No. 2 pick sandwiched between LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. With only 1.4 points averaged per game, he also only had .2 steals and .4 blocks per game, and 1.3 total rebounds averaged per game.

One gamer was able to score 51 points in a game using Milicic on the Minnesota Timberwolves. Not only that, he achieved a triple-double which also included 15 boards and 10 assists. That brought the following brand new Darko 92 overall Amethyst card.

• Brook Lopez

Brook Lopez

It seemed like the entire NBA got swept up in the Brook Lopez three-point revolution that carried the Bucks to 60 wins and a Conference Finals berth last season.

A former All-Star who possesses a potent post scoring game, can not only space the floor efficiently but knock down long-range shots from greater distances than anyone other than Stephen Curry, and also anchor a defense with outstanding rim protection.

He’s been known to knock down threes and definitely has the scoring ability. In 2K20, a gamer was able to In 2K20, one gamer achieved an out of this world quadruple-double consisting of 100 points, 19 rebounds, 11 assists, and 10 blocks. That’s just craziness and it means there’s now a 98 OVR Pink Diamond for Lopez.

• Tim Legler

Tim Legler

Tim Legler‘s best NBA season was 1995–1996, when he ranked first in the league in both 3-point field goal percentage and true shooting percentage, ranked second in turnover ratio, and won the 1996 Three-Point Shootout during All-Star Weekend. He holds the record for a 3-round aggregate of (23, 22, and 20 out of 30 each) 65 points (out of 90). And though we’d love to give the man more credit for hitting 52 percent that year, his 603 career attempts leave something to be desired. Still that sharpshooting season made him credible enough for a studio spot and, more importantly, maybe opened the door for a bevy of poon.

Tim Legler got a new 95 OVR Diamond for knocking down 33 three-pointers en route to 104 points.

• Wally Szczerbiak

Wally Szczerbiak

While not having the most illustrious career in the league, Wally Szczerbiak was still part of the team and helped them to have a strong finish. Averaging just barely 10.2 points per game, he held a 1.2 assist per game, as well as 3.1 total rebounds per game.

Wally Szczerbiak was awarded a new Pink Diamond for a 92 points performance.

• Sarunas Marciulionis

Sarunas Marciulionis

The best new card went to former NBA star Sarunas Marciulionis. He averaged 14.7 points per game from 1989-93 for the Warriors as part of a seven-year NBA career.

The first Soviet player in the NBA, Marciulionis helped resurrect the Lithuanian national team, which won bronze medals at the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games.

The SG/PG had 53 points and 21 assists, resulting in an all-new Galaxy Opal for him as a member of the Golden State Warriors.

It’s “a first for console gaming. This means true-to-life lighting, accurate reflections, and realistic acoustics in real-time as you explore the game world.”

The Xbox Series X will come equipped with lightning-fast, high-bandwidth DDR6 RAM that Microsoft has claimed will “usher in resolution and framerates we’ve never seen before”.

The expected release date for those consoles is December 2020, so NBA 2K21 will have already been released.

It’s safe to assume 2K Sports will want their flagship game on the new consoles when they are released, meaning that NBA fans will get to play their favorite game in ultra-high definition. NBA 2K21 promises to be awesome.

What does this mean for NBA 2K21?

• A massive increase in the quality of graphics as a whole

The most noticeable difference we will see out of the gate is the dramatic improvement in graphics. According to Microsoft, the more powerful GPU will result in “higher frame rates, larger and more sophisticated game worlds, and immersive experience unlike anything seen in console gaming”.

NBA 2K21

The addition of ray tracing – a rendering technique for generating an image by tracing the path of light as pixels in an image – means that players, fans, stadiums, and everything in between will look better than ever before.

With the boost in graphics and resolution, details will be magnified and will make it easier to pick up on some of the distinct nuances of NBA players seen throughout a game.

• Improved gameplay, physics, and animations

That’s gonna affect a lot of things: improved physics models, improved foot planting. You will see more realistic basketball physics, better foot planting, more fluid and seamless animations, as well as increasing the number of animations, thanks to the hardware upgrade of next-gen consoles.

• Improved A.I.

We should see the most sophisticated AI to date, in the effort to replicate real NBA coaches and team strategy on and off the court, the ability to adapt to a human opponent in greater detail, and many more improvements. It’s not the same as playing vs a human opponent, but it should come close as those lines are blurred by a powerful artificial intelligence. Expect Wang and the 2K devs to push the AI capacities as far as possible with the next-gen consoles, where the CPU isn’t winning due to ‘cheese’, but because it’s constantly adapting to and outsmarting the opponent.

• Less waiting

By using the SSD as virtual RAM, the omission of loading screens means 2K ballers will be able to get into the action right away, without the need to wait. More gaming, less waiting.

• Less input lag

Due to the inclusion of ALMM and VRR, input lag should be noticeably improved for next-gen consoles.

• Misc

There will obviously be a multitude of other miscellaneous back-end improvements and capabilities that the addition of new hardware will allow 2K devs to implement into the game as well, as well as improve the efficiency and overall experience for the NBA 2K baller.

Will NBA 2K21 be cross-platform?

Cross-platform gaming has become a huge talking point in recent years. Gamers are now wondering if their favorite sports titles could be the next big games to go cross-platform, including NBA 2K21.

There is a possibility it could happen, albeit a slight one, but its definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Best Ruby Cards in NBA 2K20 MyTeam

In NBA 2k20 MyTEAM, you need to build a strong team to compete with others and win the game. Ruby cards are a good choice, they offer a nice sweet spot of being decently high in the overall department, but not need to spend too much NBA2k20 mt coins. Now, let’s take a look at the best ruby cards in NBA 2k20 MyTeam.

Wilt Chamberlain ’73

Wilt Chamberlain

When discussing the most dominant players to ever pick up a basketball, Wilt Chamberlain has to be in the conversation.

But Chamberlain was the greatest of his time, that much is no debate. Wilt won two Championships during his playing days, including one in Philly in 1967. Despite only spending three years with the 76ers, Wilt made quite an impression, including finishing the 1968 season with the most rebounds AND the most assists in the competition.

Over the course of his 15-year-career, he broke countless records and set insane standards as he averaged 30 points per game and 22 rebounds. He’s the only player in history to average more than 50 points in a single season and the only player to average a whopping 27 rebounds per game.

Unfortunately, Wilt played in an era before the league counted blocks and steals on the stat sheet, but he dominated in those areas as well.

In fact, from the data that we do have, it’s clear that he was an amazing shot blocker as well.

His ruby card comes equipped with some solid attributes in both the inside scoring and athleticism groupings.

On top of that, he’s a walking double-double as his rebounding ability is above average. Just understand that unlike modern big men in the NBA, Chamberlain isn’t great with the ball in his hand as a distributor.

Richard Hamilton ’04

Richard Hamilton

A three-time All-Star, Richard Hamilton was a key member of the Detroit Pistons squad who defied the odds when they upset a Bryant and O’Neal led LA Lakers side and came out emphatic 4-1 winners in the 2004 NBA Finals. Hamilton scored more points than any other Piston’s player during that series, averaging 21.4 points per game.

On top of his signature protective mask and headband, Hamilton was known for being a solid 3-and-D guy. He could drain shots from deep with the best of them, and lockdown players on the perimeter. His ruby card reflects his playstyle perfectly and will give younger fans an appreciation for what Hamilton did with that underappreciated Pistons squad.

Amare Stoudemire ’16

Amare Stoudemire

The little tyrant of the court, Amare Stoudemire was definitely anything but small. Alongside Nash, Stoudemire made sure that the offensive side of the Suns was always able to perform. Averaging an impressive 26.0 points per game, .560 eFG%. He even managed to get 1 block a game on average, helping him become the low post-star that he is recognized as.

His biggest rival on the court was his own eyes, as surgery and such held him back and limited his overall career output. The ruby version of him when he was with the New York Knicks shows how athletic he was even late into his career.

Zion Williamson

Zion Williamson

Zion Williamson is currently the center of the NBA media landscape as the kid becomes the central focus of programming whenever he steps foot on the court. Williamson hasn’t been in the lineup very long having battled through injury, but in his short time there he has already made his mark.

He is showing off his incredible athleticism and ability almost every opportunity he gets, and against the Grizzlies he scored 24 points and added six rebounds and three assists, reached new highs in terms of points scored.

Williamson can jump out of the gym and has mobility unseen at his size. If you’re looking to add a player who can dominate and flourish in the transition game you might want to get your hands on the ruby Zion Williamson card featured in the flash packs.

Gary Payton ’06

Gary Payton

Gary Payton, otherwise known as The Glove, made a name for himself playing defense and in many circles is considered one of the best defensive players of all time.

The point guard picked up his only NBA title at the back end of his career during his time with the Heat, but it was the 13 years Payton spent in Seattle with the SuperSonics that NBA fans will remember the defensive maestro for.

As a nine-time All-Defensive first team member and the ’96 DPOTY, it is no surprise to see Payton’s defense rated so highly (96 defending). Payton’s 91 rated playmaking will come in handy on the opposite end of the court too.

If your roster already has scorers at the shooting guard and small forward positions, Payton may be a smart pickup to guard the superstar point guards that can score from anywhere on the court.

Cheap Diamond Cards for Each Position in NBA 2K20 MyTEAM

Every MyTeam squad needs some cheap but productive players that can be the difference between winning and losing. Therefore, I suggest that you form a team mainly composed of diamond players, otherwise it is difficult to compete with other top teams. Of course, if you have enough NBA 2K20 MT, you can choose amethyst or ruby player cards, but for most players diamond cards are suitable. Here, I list the cheapest and applicable diamond cards for each position.

Jason Terry

• Position: PG/SG
• Pack: Jason Kidd Spotlight Series Pack
• Cost: 9,950 MT

Jason Terry

Jason Terry was once a solid secondary scorer with the Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks, averaging 16-plus points over 13 seasons.

His finest moments came during the Mavericks’ championship run in 2011, when he averaged 17.5 points in 21 postseason games. He most notably poured in 27 points during the title-clinching Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

Veteran shooting guard Jason Terry was looking for a new home ahead of his 18th NBA season, and he has caught on with an Eastern Conference team. A veteran who has shot 37.9 percent from three-point range during his career while making a living coming off the bench for the past nine seasons represents a solid depth addition for the Bucks’ backcourt.

This Diamond card is a little on the short side at 6’2″, but it’s under 10,000 MT, and still a dynamite shooter from the outside (95 three-point shooting) with excellent speed (98). The card also has a gold Clamps badge with 37 badges in total. This is one of the best bargains in the Auction House overall.

Donovan Mitchell

• Position: SG/PG
• Pack: Moments of the Week 1/16/20
• Cost: 7,500 MT

Donovan Mitchell

Donovan Mitchell is a talented baller and the best player on the Utah Jazz. His 24 points per game this past season earned him a starting spot on an empty USA Basketball roster this summer, where Mitchell was considered to be by far the best player on the team.

If your Diamond startup squad needs a player who can be a bit of a do-it-all scorer, this “Spida” Mitchell card fits the bill. It has a 95 speed, 92 three-point shot, and a 95 dunk rating. While he’s only 6’3, the Mitchell card gets great animations on the drive which along with gold Contact Finisher allows him to dunk over the defense.

Tony Allen

• Position: SG/SF
• Pack: New Year’s Resolution – Evolved
• Cost: 8,500 MT

Tony Allen

AllenTony Allen was part of the last Celtics side to win a ring back in 2008 and he also was one of the NBA’s best defenders for a decade. He made six NBA All-Defensive team appearances in his career, three on the All-Defensive First Team and three on the second.

Let’s start by saying you want to be sure to get the evolved version if not, you’re looking at a less valuable Amethyst. There is one other disclaimer as well; the jump shot motion is a bit slow and awkward.

If you can get by that, this card can be a major factor for you against just about any 2-guard or small forward. True to the real-life Allen, the defense provided is stellar.

The card has a 97 perimeter defense and 98 steal rating to go with a 97 lateral quickness mark and a Hall-of-Fame Clamps badge. Because the three-point shooting mark is an 86, and his dunking rating is a 90, the Allen card is capable of keeping defenses honest.

Kevin Durant

• Position: SF/PF
• Pack: ’20 Current Series
• Cost: 9,400 MT

Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant left California for NYC when he joined the Nets in the summer and despite only spending three years with the Warriors, KD made quite the impact, winning two NBA Championships, being named the Finals MVP in both of those seasons. The chances of Durant taking to the court this campaign are little to zero, with the Nets hoping that the 2014 MVP can recapture his old form from next season onwards.

With the release of the new Galaxy Opal Kevin Durant and the existence of the Diamond Lights Out version, the price of this regular roster series version has dropped. It’s not as good as the GO, but with Durant’s length and solid animations, he is still a good Diamond option under 10,000 MT. This version of Durant has an 84 three-point rating, an 85 driving dunk, and a bronze Clamps badge.

Karl Malone

• Position: C/PF
• Pack: Prime Series II – VIP
• Cost: 13,950 MT

Karl Malone

Karl Malone, arguably the greatest player to ever play for the Utah Jazz, Malone spent 18 years in Utah, making the All-Star team fourteen times during that stretch. Over the course of his career he averaged a double double with 25 PPG and 10.1 RPG and like Love, Malone had his number retired by both club and college at the end of his career.

The Karl Malone card was the only one that could play center that could be had in the Auction House for less than 15,000 MT.

That said, Malone can stretch the floor (8o three-point rating) defend the post (96 interior defense), rebound (96), and he’s also fast for the position (80).
