NBA 2K21 on the PS5 consoles will be a totally different game from its current generation counterpart that has the unique tech, modes, and features. Here is everything you need to know about NBA 2K21 on PS5.
1. A visual leap to the PS5
As soon as we start NBA 2K21 on PS5, we already realize that we are facing a game for a new generation with a striking visual finish.
First, player faces are, more detailed than ever, and a little thing that sells it is that everyone else looks much better now too, from the crowd (which finally has kids in it!) to the referees, people at the scorer’s table, dance team, mascots, mop boys, cameramen, security guards, etc.
Already on the field, everything we intuited with this first “letter of introduction” becomes reality, both in the modeling of every one of the players and in their hair, their face, or their sweat, which look much more natural than in the past.
The animations are also now more realistic, contacts between the players have also been improved, with an improved collision engine that makes the crashes more real, having a sensation of weight that was not available until now, and with displacements and falls that are much more similar to what we can see on a basketball court.
The improved lighting is especially noticeable during matches, from the spotlights in the pavilions to the different advertising signs that surround the field, with different reflections if they are digital signs or old columns with plastic advertising. On the park, we will also see the reflections of the spotlights that illuminate the entire track that will move in a fluid and dynamic way while we move through it with the player that we are controlling at all times.
2. A totally renewed gameplay
NBA 2K21 on PS5 has received a multitude of improvements and changes in its gameplay.
2K has added layers of control for shooting, passing, and dribbling. as well as new physics and added signature animations it will be a huge step forward for the game. It allows more fine control and player movement too, especially good for sliding back behind the arc.
Also, a whole new physics engine for body collision is coming to the PS5. This will change the way the game is played at the rim and a whole new way of using screens and charges. The collisions will also impact dunks, drives, and other aspects of the game, making for a more realistic game.
3. Load time is incredibly fast
The experience is completely transformed by the speed of the PS5, as games take little more than three seconds to load now, meaning you’re into the thick of the action fast. This is especially evident in online matches. Now, as soon as we find a rival, we will start playing almost immediately.
4. New, expanded and improved modes: The W, The City, MyTEAM and MyCAREER
1). The W
The W, this is a new Mode that allows us to create a basketball player We will take control of it during the WNBA season, also having an online mode that allows us to play 3-player matches against 3 players.
2). The City
The Neighborhood has become The City, a massive new expansion of the game mode with Affiliations, new facilities, a huge new open-world city to explore, quests, and more.

Your ultimate destiny waits.
5. Making the most of the new DualSense
Another key point to feel a new generation feeling with NBA 2K21 for PS5 is the use they have made of the DualSense from the 2K Sports development team using the new functionalities offered by the controller starting with the hepatic feedback, feeling the shocks of the players in the hands or the racing pulse of the players in key moments.
Another interesting use that NBA 2K21 makes of the DualSense are the adaptive triggers noticing how when sprinting our player gets tired and how the R2 trigger gets harder, simulating his fatigue and making us feel how difficult it is to continue his career. Also, we can use the Dualsense’s built-in microphone to discuss the details of the match with our opponent, congratulating him, for example, when he makes a great play.
6. Shared progress between generations
Through MyTEAM Cross-Progression, all your NBA 2K21 MyTEAM Points, Tokens, cards, and progress are shared between both current and PS5 versions of NBA 2K21 in the same console family.
So -as an example- a PS4 player can play and access their MyTEAM saved data on both PS4 and PS5 at all times! They’ll be able to go back and forth between the two generations at will! This mode will be treated the same across all platforms.
