’77 Bob Love (OVR 95)

A master with both hands (95 rated hands in-game), ‘Butterbean’, as he was affectionately known in his playing days, played for five teams during his 11 year NBA career, but is best remembered for his time in Chicago. Butterbean had quite the career, making the All-Star team three times, as well as the All-Defensive team five times. He even had his coveted number 10 shirt retired by the Bulls upon his retirement.
Given the fact he is so highly rated, Love isn’t just good at defending. As a matter of fact, despite his defensive rating is a massive 88, it is only his joint second-highest rating, with his 90 rated interiors scoring his best.

The next name in the top five is the two time NBA MVP Karl Malone.
Arguably the greatest player to ever play for the Utah Jazz, Malone spent 18 years in Utah, making the All-Star team fourteen times during that stretch. Over the course of his career, he averaged a double-double with 25 PPG and 10.1 RPG.
A dominant guy on both ends of the floor, the power forward was a scoring machine while playing lockdown defense and owning the boards on a nightly basis. Malone is a beast in the paint, with his inside scoring (89 OVR) made up of 91 post moves, 85 standing dunk, and 85 driving dunks. Kevin McHale is spending his full playing days in Boston with the Celtics and is known for being one of the best NBA power forwards of all time.
McHale was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame in 1999. McHale spent his full playing career at the Boston Garden, winning three championships and making seven All-Star appearances.
Whilst he was no chump on offense – averaging 17.9 PPG – he was better known for his defensive abilities, highlighted by his 89 rated interior defense and his 94 picks and roll defense IQ. Scoring and rebounding are the two main attributes for McHale, who finished his playing days with a 17.6 PPG and 7.3 RPG average.

Another player who comes in at less than 50k with a 92 OVR is the NBA journeyman Christian Laettner.
If you need a PF that can score from the post, this is your card. Laettner is one of the best Sapphire post players in the game, and can even stretch the floor with his deadly midrange. He’s not athletic by any means, but his defense is pretty decent, making him the best power forward available in the Sapphire token market.
It was in his time with Atlanta where he made his first and only NBA All-Star appearance in 1997. Whilst his NBA record is impressive, Laettner is better remembered for his time in college playing in the NCAA, with his time with the Duke Blue Devils regarded as one of the greatest in the history of the competition.
Christian’s hustle is his top-rated stat (95 OVR) and rightly so, he grafted from the first whistle to the last, picking up a whopping 5,806 rebounds in his NBA career (88 OVR).
’76 Bobby Jones (90 OVR)

His defending is rated 90 OVR on NBA 2K20, with his 88 rated perimeter and 89 rated interior defense showing that he can deal with whatever you throw at him, wherever it may be.
Jones played for two sides in his NBA career, starting with the Denver Nuggets before moving to the 76ers in 1978, where he remained for the rest of his career.
