The crew at 2K Games unveiled its ratings for the top players in the NBA 2K20 and one Nuggets player landed in the top 20. Center Nikola Jokic received a 90 overall rating, ranking him 12th among all players. Jokic is the third-best big man in the game.

“The big man who can do everything — passer, scorer,” said Ronnie “Ronnie2K” Singh, digital marketing director at 2K. “He’s probably one of the best passing big men — definitely in today’s NBA, but even historically. Kind of shaky on the defensive end, which I think hurt him a little in the overall rating.”

Jokic averaged 20.1 points, 10.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game in the 2018-2019 NBA season, with a 51.1% field goal percentage and an 82.1% free throw percentage. The Nuggets center received his first All-Star selection, was named to the All-NBA First Team, and was fourth place in the voting tallies for MVP.

The Nuggets topped the Northwest Division and landed second place in the Western Conference, before falling to the Portland Trailblazers in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. The team’s potential makes it one of the exciting ones to watch in the upcoming season and a popular choice in NBA 2K20, further shining the glaring spotlight on the shortcomings for Jokic’s character design.

Since launch much of the social media chatter among NBA 2K20 fans has been about Nikola Jokic and his sub-par design in the game. And what makes the shortcoming so glaring is that this isn’t some random player on the Memphis Grizzlies’ bench. Nikola Jokic is one of the best players in the league and one of the highest-rated players in NBA 2K20. Heck, he finished fourth last year in the NBA MVP race. In other words, you’d think his design would be flawless, but fans aren’t impressed.

For those that don’t know: Jokic is the Denver Nuggets’ star center hailing from Serbia. The young 6’10 center has been in the league for a few years now, but last year was undoubtedly his breakout year. And given that he’s one of the best big men in the game means he’s a popular player to have. Yet, it seems 2K maybe cut a corner or two on his design.

Jokic is not your traditional big man, although he puts up points like no other he is well known for his tremendous passing ability and is compared to an All-Pro NFL quarterback with the way he can distribute the ball.

The main area where Jokic took a hit was his long-range shooting, which plummeted from a respectable 39.6 percent on 3.7 attempts per game in 2017-18 to 30.7 percent on 3.4 attempts per game last season.

Interestingly enough, Jokic moved up to the number 2 spot this year despite seeing a single point increase to his rating. He is widely considered one of the most skilled players at the center position due to his elite passing skills.

Nikola Jokic is playing well this season as the anchor of one of the West’s better teams, but he’s also a little down from last season. His points per game are down, he’s shooting percentages (including from three) is off, and he’s dishing out fewer assists. None of it dramatic, he’s still an elite player.
