When Does NBA 2K20 Come Out
September 6th is the release date for all three versions (Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Legend) of NBA 2K20. There isn’t an early release date for the special editions.
Sept. 6 is the global release date for the major platforms including Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Nintendo Switch. All three editions release that day. NBA 2K20 will also be available on Google Stadia, but since that gaming system doesn’t release until November, you won’t be able to purchase the game until then.

NBA 2K20 is Davis’ first solo cover appearance for the franchise after being featured as part of NBA 2K16’s star-studded cover lineup.
How to Get NBA 2K20 Early
If you pre-order a digital copy of NBA 2K20 you’ll be able to start playing the latest entry in the series at 12 AM Eastern/9PM Pacific on September 6th/September 5th.
If you would rather buy a physical copy of the game for your Xbox One, PS4, Windows PC, or Nintendo Switch, you’ll have to head into a store on Thursday if you want to play the game right away.
If you pre-order a physical copy of NBA 2K20 and you want to play on September 5th, you’ll need to buy a copy through a retailer like Best Buy. Best Buy says NBA 2K20 will be available to pick up the night before it’s released. In order to secure your copy, you’ll need to arrive at any Best Buy store just before 9 PM local time, while the doors are still open. This will ensure that you’re able to pick up your pre-order or buy a copy of the game.
If you plan to buy NBA 2K20 through GameStop and want to pick up a physical copy on Thursday, you’ll want to call ahead and see if you can do so. GameStop hasn’t offered similar timing plans yet.

Best NBA 2K20 Deals
There are three ways to buy NBA 2K20 right now. There’s a $60 standard edition, an $80 Digital Deluxe Edition, and the $100 Legend Edition. If you aren’t looking to pay full price, you’ll need to hunt around for deals ahead of the game’s launch date. We’ve seen a few price drops, but the biggest price drops will likely come this fall and in 2020.
If you plan on playing the game on Windows PC, you can save 12% on the standard edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, or Legend Edition if you are pre-order at Green Man Gaming. In order to get the discount, you must input the code “August12” before you checkout.
Best Buy is offering a nice deal to those enrolled in the free My Best Buy program. If you pre-order a copy of the standard edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, or Legend Edition through Best Buy, and you’re a My Best Buy member, you’ll receive $10 in reward certificates that you can put toward something else from the retailer.
You can expect bigger NBA 2K20 deals to emerge in the fall in and around Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the holiday shopping season. This is when the game will likely drop by $15 to $30 at popular retailers in the United States.
You can also expect to see random and deep discounts emerge early-to-mid 2020, particularly once we get closer to the inevitable release of NBA 2K21.
