MyTeam is the backbone of NBA 2K and one of the most popular modes. This mode allows you to build a team from start to finish using your own specially made and earned players. Recently, 2K showed off the new features of NBA 2K20 MyTeam.
Evo Cards
In NBA 2K20, that changes. From the very start of your MyTeam experience you’ll be able to select one card from a deck of five, to start off with one of Tracy McGrady, Derrick Rose, Dirk Nowitzki, Vince Carter, or Hakeem Olajuwon. It’s permanent and will stay in your collection. If you reach the 750-card collector level, you’ll earn an Isaiah Thomas card that can be upgraded from an Amethyst to a Galaxy Opal.
Triple Threat Changes
In NBA 2K20, Triple Threat against the CPU will now see you play a team with three random cards rather than competing against a specific team. There is a new prize ladder as well. The prize for your first win is a pack containing a very high-end Free Agent card. A second gets you a Token. A third delivers another Token, and as you saw in the trailer, the prizes continue to escalate. If you can manage 1000 TT wins, you’ll earn a Galaxy Opal Dominique Wilkins card.
Auction House
This is a simple yet important change: access to the Auction House in NBA 2K20’s MyTeam will only require having collected 30 cards, whereas previous years you had to complete a whole set of often trivial tasks. You’ll start the game with the ability to unlock 20 cards, so it shouldn’t take long to unlock the Auction House from the get-go.
Position Locks
Another mini “fix” of sorts, where cards are now locked to the player’s actual position (along with a sub-position). In NBA 2K20’s MyTeam, we’ll see players locked to their respective roles, meaning you won’t see high-ranked forwards or centers subbed into point guard late into a match. This stands to significantly improve the matchmaking functionality of the mode and experience for players.
Domination Changes
NBA 2K20 MyTeam’s Domination has gone through some re-designing, letting you choose your difficulty levels, each of which will earn you a different number of Stars. You can play these games on three different levels, but you will not have dominated them until you complete the objectives on the highest setting.
Evolution Cards system
With the Evolution Cards system, you’ll be able to upgrade certain cards throughout the game, completely certain goals and objectives to get the card up to the require cap level for the level increase. Interestingly, and importantly, you’ll be able to immediately upgrade a card right up to galaxy opal levels and then sell it immediately in the Auction House.
All-New Ball Drop Prizing
There will be 10 different ball drop environments, and there is a pinball machine concept (with propellers and spinners). This year the prizes won’t just be at the bottom of the board. They will be stationed throughout the digital environment. However, gamers must be careful not to allow this visual stimulation to influence them to spend beyond their means in a quest to accelerate the growth of their collections. There are enough free and grind options for MTP and other upgrades. It doesn’t appear to be necessary to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars to be competitive in the mode.
Daily Login Prizes
You’ll earn small rewards just for logging in each day. The rewards range from tokens to MyTeam points and packs. When you accumulate a certain number of log-in days, the rewards will get more valuable.
Prize Wheel
The Prize Wheel can generate some nice MyTeam loot. You can obtain spins through locker code distribution and qualifying for the weekly grand prize associated with the daily log-in bonuses. Logging in all seven days doesn’t guarantee you the grand prize, you still have to win it on the prize wheel.
